Abuse of painkillers seen as an epidemic

Vicodin is an opiate-based drug — also known as an opioid — commonly prescribed for pain. Others include OxyContin, Percocet and codeine. Their abuse is now at epidemic levels, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.
