Can someone give me so honest input on this situation. Job issues?
Question by vjustice4all: Can someone give me so honest input on this situation. Job issues?
work at a non profit agency in San Diego California. I work at a residential treatment facility that serves the population of men and women recovering from drugs and alcohol abuse. I am a certified drug and alcohol counselor.
Before I got certified, my boss told me and two other co workers of mine that we needed to get certified as counselors. We all went up to Los Angeles California to take the test. My two co workers passed the test and I did not. I missed by two questions. Therefore, instead of dwelling on my failed test, I immediately got into the solution. I registered with Breining Institute and studied for their exam, but before I did this, I asked my boss if this exam would be acceptable. She said, Absolutely!. I studied for the exam, took the exam, and passed the exam. I was so pleased with myself. I took my certification to my boss and she gladly accepted it.
Lately, my boss and I have been having problems. Every since I bought my home she has been acting very funny. She did admit to me that I have something that she has always wanted…The house. I am also in a happy and healthy relationship with my significant other and she has no one. She makes rude comments about our age difference( he’s 59 and I’m 43) and I just brush them off.
I have become quite uncomfortable in my workplace.
Recently, my boss came to me and told me that my Certification is not good enough and now I have to take the other exam that my co workers took. Both of the Certifying agencies are Nationally accredited by the same organization. I asked her why do I have to take another exam when I am already certified. She said that she has no respect for any test that is given on the computer. I explained to her that there are many organizations that test out from the computer. I asked her if she wanted to know about this agency that I got certified with. She said no, I have no interest in learning of the other agency and that she personally likes the other agency better. She told me to make arrangements to take the exam in March of 2010 when it comes to Sacramento California and that I will have to pay for it all out of my own pocket.
I truly believe that this is a personal attack and I do not want to take this exam. I am already certified by a accredited institution. If I don’t take this exam, and she fires me, do you think I can do? This is unfair. Please give me your honest input. I am thinking of hiring a lawyer/attorney before March to see what my options are.
Thank you so much in advance for your answers!!
I forgot to mention that I am in college full time working on my bachelor’s degree in human services She told me that she thinks that I am moving too fast and that I should slow down. She was very happy with me when I did not have a life. Now………..
