Shopping Addiction..?
Question by mlryis: Shopping Addiction..?
Is it possible to be addicted to shopping? I go shopping every single weekend, and even sometimes during the week. If I dont go shopping I feel as if I have no clothes to wear and I feel kinda depressed and not so happy. But after I do go shopping I feel refreshed and relieved. Right now, my parents buy all my clothes and stuff but Im worried when I start to live on my own and purchase my own things, I wont be able to support my shopping addiction and I wont be able to function. Is it possible to be addicted to shopping? If so how can I fix this?

Honestly, it is possible to be addicted to shopping and basically it’s something that either you’ll need therapy for or ways to curb your addiction. Having a shopping addiction is called a Compulsive Shopping Disorder. (posted a link just in case you wanna know more about it.)
I used to have to same addiction and I still suffer from the temptation of constantly wanting to spend money on clothes and shoes and getting my nails done, and it was just the feeling that I got from doing it. It was like a high from shopping.
But really, you need to figure out why you’re spending so much money. Sometimes, it is a deeper problem. Mine was stressing out a lot about school and work and going shopping was my outlet. I had to learn how to manage my stress and find other ways to relax or calm my nerves in a better way. I would write out what was bothering me in a journal, write poetry, sing. I developed a calendar to help me get everything in on time, and I started writing out what I was spending each week and totaling it all up at the end of the month so I could just where most of my money was going. And just to have it all out in front of me was hopeful.
So just find out what the real problem is, because believe me, you’re not shopping just to shop, it’s a deeper problem. I know, I’ve been there.
